School supplementary information form required
The number of pupils admitted to the Reception Class in each academic year is determined by agreement with the Area Education Authority and with regard to the school’s facilities.
The admissions limit in the Reception Class for academic year 2024 - 2025 is 30 pupils.

Pupils are admitted to school in accordance with the County admissions policy.
Parents can apply online at www.kent.gov.uk/ola from November until the closing date 16th January 2023.
In Year Casual Admissions 2023-2024
In Year Casual Admissions are admissions that take place outside of the normal entry to school. This applies to parents seeking to move their child from one school to another, at any point during their Primary School career. All applications for places in Years 1 to 6 will be considered as In Year Casual Admissions, along with any applications for Reception Class places from September. Parents must apply directly to schools. Schools must process all applications and make offers where places are available in line with their published over subscription criteria.
If you are a parent or carer of a child who already lives or has recently moved to Kent and is looking for a place at our school, you must complete an In Year Casual Admissions Form (IYCAF). These forms are available from our website (below), individual schools, the primary admissions team or you can download the application form and guidance notes on how to make an in year application from the Kent County Council website: www.kent.gov.uk/primaryadmissions.

Completed IYCAFs must be returned to the school. We will then inform you as to whether a place is available or not. Details of our over subscription criteria can be found by clicking the link below. Please note that the same over subscription criteria apply to applications for places in the new Reception Class and in Year Casual Admissions.
Should a place become available at our school, we will offer it from our waiting list using the published over subscription criteria. If no place is available, we will write to you to inform you of this fact and to ask if you wish your child to be added to our waiting list.
In addition, you do have the right to appeal the decision by completing the appeals form below and returning to the school. Please note that if you wish to appeal the decision the completed form must be returned to school within 21 days of the date of the refusal letter. An independent panel will then be convened to hear your appeal within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
Primary Appeals can only be upheld in very limited circumstances. The law requires that an infant (ie a child in Reception Year, Year 1 or Year 2) should not be educated in a class which has more than 30 children per qualified teacher, so most appeals for admission to Reception at a Primary or Infant school will be ‘Infant Class Size Appeals’.
As grounds for upholding an appeal of this type are very limited, the success rate is low, so parents will want to weigh the effort involved against their chance of success before embarking on an appeal.
By law, an Independent Appeal Panel hearing an appeal must consider the following matters:
a) whether the admission of an additional child/additional children would breach the infant class limit; AND
b) whether the admission arrangements (including the area’s co-ordinated admission arrangements) complied with the mandatory requirements of the School Admissions Code and Part 3 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998; AND
c) whether the admission arrangements were correctly and impartially applied in the case(s) in question; AND
d) whether the decision to refuse admission was one which a reasonable admission authority would have made in the circumstances of the case.
Put more simply, as well as checking whether giving another child a place will break the law, panels need to look at whether the admission arrangements for that school were legal, whether they were applied properly and whether in the circumstances it was reasonable not to offer your child a place.
A Panel may only uphold the appeal where:
a) it finds that the admission of additional children would not breach the infant class size limit; OR
b) it finds that the admission arrangements did not comply with admissions law or had not been correctly and impartially applied and the child would have been offered a place if the arrangements had complied or had been correctly and impartially applied; OR
c) where it decides that the decision to refuse admission was not one which a reasonable admission authority would have made in the circumstances of the case.
Because of this framework, parents' personal reasons for wanting the school cannot be taken into account, so even if you feel very strongly that your child should have a place, you need to consider whether your appeal fits these grounds.
Reception Class Intake – September 2022
For the September 2022 Intake we admitted children from the following oversubscription categories:
1 Looked After Children / Children in Local Authority Care.

2 – Baptised children whose parents live in the civil parish of Leybourne and are at the heart of the worshipping community, worshipping at least three times per month and who are involved in the wider social and organisational life of the Church for at least two years at the time of application.
None
3 – Children who will, at the time of admission, have a brother or sister in the school.
12 children
4 – Children whose parents live in the civil parish of Leybourne measured by straight line distance from the school, with those living nearer having priority.
10 children
5 – Children who will have, at the time of admission, a parent working as a teacher in the school.
None
6 – Baptised children whose parents live outside the civil parish of Leybourne and are at the heart of the worshipping community in another Church of England parish, worshipping at least three times per month and who are involved in the wider social and organisational life of the Church of England for at least a year at the time of application.
