We use a variety of activities to help support children to develop fine motor skills, which in turn are needed to produce a comfortable, legible hand writing style. ‘Clever Fingers’ is particularly recommended for those children who struggle with hand writing & weak fine motor skills. The activities are varied & fun & ideal for practising at home!
The activities focus on one or more of the following specific skill areas:
B is Bilateral: These are activities which use both hands
O is Opposition: These are activities which use finger to thumb movements
St is Strengthening: These are activities which develop hand strength
M is Manipulation: These are activities which require hand & finger movement & grips
Sp is Spatial: These activities require the understanding of personal space & the organised knowledge of objects in relation to oneself in that given space.
Listed below are just a few activities which you may like to encourage your child to try at home. This is obviously not an exhaustive list, but the activities use resources that you may well already have at home.
